What is the danger of vinyl?

I read a couple of comments lately about the "dangers of vinyl / PVC." The only reference I could find was a 2000 Bill Moyers PBS Special (which it does already suspect), what appeared to be only on vinyl in the manufacturing process. Resembling to DDT and Silent Spring (Bill Moyers, again …) So, what I would like to know is, what exactly is the danger? Is it just a problem for manufacturers, or inflatable pool for my son or my wife's waterproof to come and destroy our liver, etc? What is alleged here? Is it only if the vinyl melts? Is this a real danger, or is it like DDT and Silent Spring? I can only find a reference, and that was not reliable source.

It takes a lot of harmful chemicals to produce plastics and PVC is no exception. Also, I've been reading some articles related to you in relation to the risks to the overall health of all plastics, and the effect that they or their residues have on the human body (fertility, obesity, etc), not to mention the environment. It's a bit alarming, but it seems pretty sensational and baseless. If there is a real and quantifiable PVC, which probably would have stopped being used years ago through the records, car dashboards, drinking water pipes, gloves, medical tubing, and any of the other multitude of applications that is good for. I do not think there is much danger in the world every day.
